INGREDIENTS Measurements

  

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup toasted sesame seeds
1 cup toasted slivered almonds
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/4 cups melted butter
1/4 cup honey (optional)
1 tablespoon ground aniseed
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground mastic grains or vanilla
Toasted slivered almonds, for garnish

METHOD

  

  • Toast flour in a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden.
  • Sift flour into large bowl. Add sesame seeds, almonds, sugar, butter, honey (if using), aniseed, cinnamon, and mastic grains. Knead by hand until well combined.
  • Mound mixture in a pyramid shape on serving plate.
  • Garnish with slivered almonds. Serve with a spoon.
