Beef Okra

INGREDIENTS Measurements


2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large onions, diced
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 kg beef, cubes
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
2 cups tomato puree
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 cups chicken stock or water
1 kilo frozen small okra (thawed) or fresh (cleaned)
salt and pepper



  • - Heat oil in a sautéing pan over a medium high heat.
  • - Sauté onion and garlic.
  • - Add beef cubes and stir till browned from all sides.
  • - Add in tomato puree and paste, season with cumin, coriander, salt and pepper.
  • - Pour stock or water, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer till beef is cooked.
  • - Add in okra and let cook for 15 minutes.
  • - Serve with lemon wedges.
